In Dog Lover Store’s run so far, we have touched base on many questions with our customers. Out of all the questions we receive, there is one particular question we receive the most: What dog breed is the most popular? Many of you may wonder, why would a dog owner ask that? If you own a specific breed, wouldn’t you shop for that breed? But many of our customers look to buy gifts for children, elderly, friends, or dog lovers who may not even own a specific breed. Over the past year we have been brainstorming ways to accurately provide this information to our customers. Dog gone it, we came up with a way! We are combining the American Kennel Club’s list of most popular breeds with our best selling dog breeds. This combination offers a blend of the breeds that are most owned by dog owners combined with dog lovers’ buying patterns for the top dog breeds. Below you can view a bar graph of our 63 top selling dog breeds.
Next, we took the AKC’s most popular dog breeds from 1-63 which can be viewed in the previous link. After combining the two lists with an equation crated by Dog Lover Store we now have a finalized list below:

This list gives dog owners and lovers a combination of most popular dog breeds owned as well as gifts purchased. So if you are looking to buy your son or daughter a dog gift because they aren’t quite ready to own a dog, you now know a Bulldog, German Shepherd, Dachshund, and so on are all solid choices!
We have also added in popularity rankings for our top 63 dog breed product lines. For instance, when you visit a Pug product, you will now see a breed popularity score at the top of every Pug product. This product rank, is based on our list above. Each year our list will be updated with current sales and AKC rank for you to know what the most popular breeds are!
